2024 FALCONS TEAMS REVEALED

With only three weeks to go until the first match of Aotearoa’s new elite domestic hockey competition starting on the November 2nd running through December 7th we are now excited to reveal the top talent that have been selected to play in the Central Falcons.

Invitations to join the new league were sent out and athletes have eagerly embraced the opportunity. The teams include 25 Black Sticks Men and 19 Black Sticks Women and the league represents an exciting addition to the existing hockey pathway, offering high-level competition for both men and women coming through the ranks.

Hockey New Zealand sees this new league as the pinnacle of domestic hockey and aims to unite our communities and build a legacy for the sport in New Zealand.

“An elite league that is domestically based, and high performance focused is an essential component of our high-performance hockey environment,” said GM of High Performance, Darren Smith.

“We aim to support more players in their home environment with high-quality hockey for longer, while also enabling our top players to compete in professional leagues across the globe. The PHL over November/December brings everyone together both locally and returning home from Europe, to give all players the opportunity to compete. This will add depth and quality to our Vantage Black Sticks teams.”

Games are scheduled around the country which will promise an entertaining atmosphere and an engaging event experience for families and anyone keen to watch some exciting competitive hockey.
